BrasiL 09:

After 20 days in Brasil, i have been training hard the first 14 days, i did new tricks and enjoy every moment here, the conditions here are amazing, perfect wind, good waves and hot every day, these 8 last days i have been resting cause i did a fissure in my finger the last evening before to the competition, therefore, i had to cancel the inscription for the KPWT, however i was there seeing my team, i have to say : Mitu is a Machine with the waves, i saw it in strapless and he’s awesome… Eli got a good position in Freestyle he dont crash never, today i’m feel better and i have my finger a little bit better. I wake up 5 in the morning and im going to do Surf i go home 8 i eat something( good fruit always) and start to train, almost every day i go to the lagoon for do the new tricks and when i landing the trick i go to the sea for do again, of this way is better, cause with flat water is too easy do the tricks, i come back to Spain at the end of december, i hope train hard and do a good film here.

Enjoy everything (with Bandit III haha)

OMAN - ooohhhh maaannnnnn!!!!

25 juillet 2009 par Julian Hosp

2 months ago, Alex from Oman-Kiteboarding contacted me, and told me about the most eastern country in the Middle East, which according to him had the most perfect waves- and windconditions imaginable: OMAN. I had never heard anything about kiteboarding in regards of Oman, rather terrorism would have popped into my mind… how wrong I was :-) Still, I was super excited to go there and check out the conditions for 10 days!

Once me and my photographer Jacqueline arrived in Muscat at 23:00 the heat was almost unbearable and felt like a huge slap into our faces! Alex picked us up and drove us to his kite station. It was sooooo darn hot there… over 40 degrees at night and almost 50 degrees in the shades during the day. Drinking a litre of water an hour, while sweating it all out like a pig at the same time…. Further down south in the country, thanks to the Monsun, it was not as hot, and wayyyy more windy… just what we came for :-) On our first day we immediately started with some great stuff… no kiting, but touri-style sightseeing ;-) We visited every important sight in the 800.000 inhabitants city Muscat with its famous Mosk, the market, the government-quarter and we chilled in a huge shopping mall, everything pretty european!

The plan of the trip was super sick! During the 10 days we would visit almost every nice kiting spot on the whole 1000km Oman-coastline and of course capture everything on video and camera!! We would sleep either in our 4×4 directly on the beach, or at a campingsite, or a few nights also in a sweet 4 star hotel… greeatt!!!  As soon as I saw the first kitespots with it picturesque conditions, one thing became clear immediately:  I will be in a real big Dilemma writing this update… BECAUSE the spots here are just amazing and the thought to just keep everything to myself and not tell anybody about how amazing this country is, so I can come back multiple times and enjoy the conditions and the beauty all by myself…. hahahahahahhahaha… I had always been impressed by people that were able to say that they had been to Brazil or Australia or Capetown BEFORE everybody else. And now I am proud of myself to be in a similar situation about Oman, as I am sure, that this country will become the next Brazil, Egypt, or whatsoever… It feels amazing to know that not many people have been htting the waves in spots such as Fishermans Shack, G-Spot or Haql!!!

We had wind every day, either on 7 in the waves, or on 10 for Freestyle in the sickest lagoons imaginable! The spots and conditions could best be described as a mixture of CapeVerde, Brazil and Egypt. Take the best out of everything and you got Oman. Our footage of videos and pictures just became sick!!!! We had been camping in the complete desolate wilderness for 3 days and afterwards spent some nights in a 4 star luxus hotel on Masirah island!!! It was one of my best experiences ever!!!

I want to thank Alex from Oman-Kiteboarding for organizing the whole thing. All the Foto-Credit goes to Jacqueline Dentremont. And of course, I want to thank all my sponsors, who enable me these great trips and experiences!!!!   More infos and pictures on:
